Here’s my new piece for Yell Magazine which was for an article about female fighter Chris Cyborg, who tested positive for steroids in her last fight. The $2500 fine doesn’t sound like much but a one year suspension can make a big difference for a fighter like Cyborg. For more details, read the article HERE!

This is a photo from her 16 second knock out against Hiroko “Cat’s Eye” Yamanaka which has now been ruled a No Contest due to the steroid charges.

Last Tuesday, we took a group photo at Balance Studio’s Northeast Philly location – these are all tough, smart, training partners and I’m thankful to have them there to kick my butt on a regular basis. Anyone in the Philly area needs to check out Balance Studios! (if anyone’s looking for me, I’m on the far right)

The new illo for Yell Magazine is up and I’m liking how it turned out. Hope you guys like – read the article HERE! I’ll be spending the next week trying to finish up the inks on First Fight #3 – hoping to have it off to the printers in January. I recently did my second illustration for Yell! Magazine regarding the current Twitter banter between Ariel Celeste and Chael Sonnon and am really looking forward to doing many more.

Hopefully I can convince them to have me make something for the upcoming Lesnar vs. Overeem bout for UFC 141. If anyone is gonna draw these monsters duking it out it might as well be me

The fine folks at Yell! Magazine also were kind enough to review some of my comics as well and NoFaceNorm’s write up is extremely well done and I can’t thank them enough. You can read the whole article here and I really enjoyed reading it – and not only just because it is all about me.

Big News!

I am super psyched to receive copies of Monsters of MMA #2 from the printers as well as seeing my first contribution to Yell Magazine! The feedback has been fantastic so far – glad to say that Urijah Faber and Ariel Helwani are officially fans of ours on Twitter and I am super super excited to announce that I will be a regular contributor for Yell Magazine where I will doing illustrations for them on a biweekly basis. Thanks to you all for showing me love on Facebook, Google +, and Twittter (be sure to follow me @bryangbrown). I’ll be posting updates on my appearances in 2012 and hope you all had a phenomenal turkey day!

Also, super psyched to have been contacted by the Northampton Herald for being kind enough to do a beautiful write up of yours truly -making me the darling of Bucks County, PA for the month of November. I’ll be posting more shortly!

Monsters of MMA #2 / MMA Insight Radio

Monsters of MMA #2 is complete and off to the printers just in time for Halloween. Really looking forward to working on some new things including some t shirt designs for Balance Studios, First Fight #3, and some other crap I’ll be posting about in the near future.

I’ve been meaning to post this but better late than never – right before SPX I did a couple interviews and here’s two in particular that I had a great time doing:

Many thanks to Colin and Justin for including me in their series of interviews at SPX which I exhibited at for the first time this year. You can check out my interview with them and several other awesome artists that are definitely worth checking out.

I was also a guest on the Wrestling Mayhem Show (episode #286) and had a good time talking about ninja turtles, Scott Baio, MMA, and other good stuff. I came on around the 28 minute mark and it turned out to be a fun half hour interview. Definitely check out http:/sorgatronmedia.com

Philly Comix Jam show at Brave New Worlds

Just recently banged out an auto bio piece for the “Philly Comix Jam Presents: A James Kochalka Inspired Art Show”. The piece I did was a bit different from my other stuff and experimented with just using a brush and had some really good results. I had a frame that was 10″ x 28″ and ended up making the piece for it which worked out near perfect, with hand lettering and all!

Kochalka does a variety of comics and music and is very well known for his autobiographical and all around domination as far as indie artists go. He’ll be unveiling his new comic Fungus and the show’s opening is this Friday at Brave New World’s in Olde City, Philadelphia.

Here’s some more pics from the Kochalka show which included an oversize jam piece that I brought to have the exhibitors create while the opening went on. The idea behind a comic jam is that one artists draws one panel while another draws another panel which could be any other panel on the page. It’s tons of fun and can be a bit of a challenge. Below is an example of myself pondering what to put on the poster.

The show had an awesome turn out and the high point of the night was seeing James Kochalka come over and take part in the Jam. He inspected the poster a bit before carefully picking a spot in the bottom row and drew an awesome centaur.
